Your privacy

This page explains what Platform Test keeps about you, why, and for how long. The short version: we keep as little as we can, we never sell or share it, and you can see, download and delete it yourself, any time.
Counting how the app is used
To see what works, the website and the app count a few things anonymously: that the app was opened, that someone signed in, which kind of device it was. These are counters for a day, nothing more. They carry no name, no address, no device id and no time of day, and your IP address is never stored.
Your account
Your account holds your email address, the name you give us (if any), when you made it and last used it, the language you use, and that you confirmed your age and agreed to our community terms (with the date and version).
There are no passwords. You sign in with a six-digit code we email you, or with Face ID, Touch ID or your device's screen lock (a passkey: we keep only its public key, never your face or fingerprint, which never leave your device). A code works once, for 10 minutes.
For each device you're signed in on we keep what kind of device it is and when it was last used, so you can see the list and sign any of them out. From your connection we work out your country, and keep only its two-letter code; the address itself is never kept.
Sign in with Apple
If you sign in with Apple, we keep the user id Apple gives us for you, so you can sign in again, and the email address Apple shares (which may be a private relay address). We also keep a token from Apple so that when you delete your account we can tell Apple to end the link too. We never see your Apple Account's password.
Premium
Premium is a subscription you buy through Apple. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or bank details. Apple sends us a signed record of the purchase (which subscription, when it started and ends, and Apple's number for it), and we keep that on your account so Premium works on all your devices. Shared through Family Sharing, the same record unlocks it for your family's accounts. Sometimes we give Premium as a gift; then your account notes when and why.
News by email
We only send news if you ask for it: with the switch in your account (it starts off), or by signing up on our website and confirming from the email we send. We keep your address, your language, and when you asked and confirmed. Every news email has a link to stop it with one tap, and so does your mail program. Emails about your account itself (sign-in codes, a change to how you sign in) still come.
Your photo
If you add a photo to your profile, we make a small square copy of it (nothing of the camera's information, such as where or when it was taken, is kept) and Amazon Rekognition checks it for content that breaks our community terms before anyone else sees it. If the check flags it, a person on our team looks at it first. You can remove your photo any time, and it goes with your account.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, your device gives us a token so Apple can deliver them, with your device's language and time zone so they read right. The token is only used for your notifications and goes when you sign out on that device.
Support requests
When you write to us through the support page or the app, we keep your name, email address, the device you mention and your message, so we can help. A request we've finished with is deleted a year later.
What stays on your device
The app keeps your sign-in in your device's Keychain and your settings on the device. The website keeps your sign-in in your browser's storage for this site. No cookies track you, and there's no advertising of any kind.
Who helps us run it
Each of them handles only what that job needs. We don't use advertising networks, analytics companies or data brokers, and we never sell anything about you.
- Amazon Web Services runs our server, in Sydney, Australia.
- Amazon SES sends our emails.
- Apple delivers the app, handles Premium's payments, provides Sign in with Apple and delivers notifications.
- Amazon Rekognition checks profile photos.
How long we keep things
- Your account: until you delete it. An account nobody has used for two years is deleted.
- Being signed in on a device: a year after you last used it there.
- Sign-in codes: 10 minutes.
- Support requests: a year after we've finished with them.
- Copies of the whole server, kept in case it fails: seven days.
Seeing and deleting your data
In your account (in the app, or on our website's account page) you can download everything we keep about you as a file, and delete your account. Deleting is immediate: your account and everything on it are gone at once, and the server's safety copies are overwritten within seven days.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription: Apple handles that, in your Apple Account's subscriptions.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what we keep, have it corrected, have it deleted, take a copy with you, and object to how we use it. Most of that you can do yourself in your account; for anything else, write to us through the support page. If you're in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority, and in Australia to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Children
You need to be 16 or older to make an account. We don't knowingly keep anything about anyone younger; if you think we do, tell us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes too. If something important changes, we'll tell you in the app before it applies.
Who is responsible
Platform Test is made by My Empower, a software development company in Australia, which is responsible for your data. You can reach us through the support page.
